So, I know all of you have been rather concerned about my like of culture and late introduction to propriety; however, I was offered the opportunity and seized it last night!I was talking to my dear friend, Megan, on Sunday night about how I was distraught about the Midsummer Night's dream incident and she mentioned a concert she was planning to attend on Monday night at Mercer. The event was a RMD concert [Robert McDuffie] and they were presenting Christopher Rex [cello] and Elizabeth Pridgen [piano].
So, I told her I would think about it, since it started at 730...while I was still in class.
Surprise, surprise...I skipped out on class early :D However, I am convinced the Lord was in it because they got out early that night and my friend said I didn't miss a thing...so there! he he
My adventure began promptly at 645, I maneuvered through downtown as I grabbed a bit to eat. I arrived at about 720 [waiting impatiently in the Wendy's line included] and eased my way into the parallel parking, praise the Lord my Dad practiced that one with me a long time ago! I had told Megan that I would be calling her to ask about where the concert was held, but couldn't reach her. Therefore, I put my college critical thinking skills to work and successfully found, what seemed to be, the music hall. I walked in, still unsure if I was in the right place, and received a program and found my seat.
At this point, I figured any concert was better than none, so I reconciled myself to the possibility of a different concert. Just then, I heard someone say, "Brittany!" I looked all around and it was Lily! Lily is friends with Megan, so we have recently become more acquainted with each other. I was so excited to see her and she offered to sit with me. And you know what that means, don't you? Yes! I was in the right place! :)
I asked where Megan was and she said she had been asked to turn pages for the pianist...yes, my friend is famous now! he he
From the very beginning, the concert was amazing! I was captivated by the intensity that could come from that small stage. Several times I found myself with closed eyes, as if I could feel the music. I can honestly say, I don't know how anyone could listen to that for an hour and a half and not think of the Lord!
As a laid in bed last night, I just thanked Jesus for the gift of music and his profound expression of how much he loves us. The concert was not Christian inspired, however I couldn't help but smile at the extent that God went just to give us enjoyment! Praise the Lord!
I captured a view illegal excerpts of the night...just kidding :)
