International fun...

So last weekend we had our Missions Conference for 2008 @ Mikado [my church] and it was such a splendid time! Dr. Don Sisk was the speaker for Friday-Sunday and he is an old guy but what an AWESOME preacher! :) Also, the visiting missionaries made me exceptionally emotional this year...I don't know if I was just flat out girly-emotional, or if it is me getting older and beginning to realize the importance of their mission. I believe it was the latter, however, I have become acutely aware of missions and my own personal mission field [Podunk town]. I pray I do not lose that passion and seek opportunities to shine for Jesus ;)!
Along with the famous 'missionary slide shows' and foreign flags waving in the breeze of our -frightfully cold- church, we also hosted an International Dinner on Saturday night! This is...THE event of my year. Food as far as the eye can see--can you think of anything better?!? Meredith joined me for this exciting event, and indeed she was as eager as I, at times. In fact the quote of the night seemed to be "Brittany, this is why we make great friends...you get as excited over food as I do." [Meredith]

[I love this picture!] :)
We all 'stepped out on a limb' and tried some foods from several different countries and were surprisingly pleased...with most. Overall, splendid!
However, to many there this evening was more than the International dinner; it happened to also be game night [UGA vs USC]. WELL, Troy {the ingenious soul he is} brought a portable t.v., no this is not a typo...he REALLY brought a small television. Scott saw it and exuberantly ran over to join popular table, or what seemed to be at this point. Scott happens to be a hardcore USC fan; Troy, a diehard UGA fan-can you feel the tention? Well, fortunately, we were in the house of God so they remained gentlemen. :) I was rather proud.
All in all, the food- great, fellowship- a joy, and preaching- moving. I give it an A+ :) I snatched a view pictures of the weekend so you all could get a preview of the exciting episodes that happen on a weekly basis at Mikado Baptist! :)
