Unannounced to me, (of course I should have known with this Podunk town) the ole WR makes a big dealio of Freedom! LOVE IT!!! That is want is so charming about this town...whether it is "Squirrel Appreciation Day" (yes, it really is a holiday) or Christmas, this enchanting town has a parade or celebratory feast of some type!
I spent this last weekend with family and friends doing a number of exciting 'home style' activities that filled my tummy and brought a smile to my face! How exciting to sit in the middle of a football field for 3hours waiting on fireworks that seemingly were never going to appear...o.k., you can sense the sarcasm. But! when they did come...it brought joy to my heart to get to see the bright and sparkling 'magic' up in the sky-(while laying on a picnic blanket next to sweet friends that care for me) :) Could I ask for a better night?!?!
FYI: Homemade Peach Ice Cream-at a farm-during a rainstorm-watching fireworks- has got to be the greatest night ever!!! At least it was for me!!!
Some tend to see the fact that there are only two things to do in this town- (although there is no need to mention them because those of you that live here know exactly what they are, however, just in case, I will clarify :) ) eating or the ole 24hr bowling, a.k.a where the good kids hang.
Well, coming from someone that lived in the "tourist capital of the world", "sunshine state", Mickey's stomping-grounds...etc., I feel qualified to speak on this topic. Yes, the ole WR doesn't have the most alluring activities known to man, but having lived in an area that did; I see the results of it--they are not that good. I have found that 'Podunk town' possesses many citizens of a sweet and creative nature that have found 'Friday night activities' without even spending a dime and are relatively legal :)
So, when I pass yet another "Community Activity" banner on the road tonight, I can not help but utter a smile and feel a warm sense of contentment and know...WR is my town :)

from an "old(er)" one .... having something to do on a Weekend in Warner Robins is such an age old problem...80's and 90's and even further back, then we leave to have "fun" elsewhere, college, get married, surely there is more out there than bowling, and alot of us come back... :-) so I guess we all figure it out... its the who you are having fun with vs the what... :-) love ya girlie!
Did you just call Warner Robins "podunk"??? What is wrong with you and where did you come from?! HA HA!! I know....someplace NORMAL!!!
hehe...just in case someone other than my 'faithful few' reads this....podunk...is my 'nickname' for our town...of course you just ruined that by mentioning the name...but FIIIIINE heheh :D j/k
